Contact UsLinkshape, Inc. is a Clearwater, Florida-based website design and interactive marketing consulting company which specializes in assisting small businesses in the Tampa Bay area. Really though, that’s just a classification. Like most things, this whole Linkshape thing is the latest development within a natural progression of chance and choices. If you want to know what we’re about, I’ll start by telling you story.
Where we’ve been
It was December, 2008 and the winds of change were beginning to pick up outside Chris’ favorite local dining spot. In fact, he would later admit that when he tallied up the amount he’d spent at this particular restaurant over the course of a year, he realized he’d actually be able to afford a membership at the local country club instead. Nonetheless, when Ricky greeted Chris and joined him at the table, it was obvious that the restaurant staff appreciated and liked the regular.
A ten-year veteran of design and marketing and an extremely picky eater, Ricky carefully slid the food he wouldn’t eat from one side of the plate to the other while he explained his dreams for a website design firm called “Linkshape.” Chris audibly enjoyed his meal and smiled as he listened, asking questions from time to time. When Ricky had finished and with a gleam in his eye, Chris said “I have some ideas and I think I can help.”
The rest of the meal was filled by sketching the earliest blueprints – business ideas and practices – for a dream business they both had begun to build in their minds over the course of their careers. They discussed the importance of client relationships, the functional areas of their business that needed to be covered, and the future of the website design industry.
One month later, right smack in the middle of the worst economic environment of this generation, Ricky and Chris took the titles of “Head Linkshapers” and opened the virtual doors of Linkshape, Inc. website design and Internet marketing, reaching out to the other small businesses in the Tampa Bay area who could benefit from their services and expertise. As they call it, they were going to help people get “Linkshaped.”

What “Linkshape” means
The word “Linkshape” is the connection of two key words. The first part, “link” can refer to a hyperlink on the Internet, but on a more conceptual level, “link” refers to the whole notion of connection. Since we’re talking about the web here, this connection can be between a person and information, or a person to a person. Since we’re also talking about business here, this connection can be between a company and their customer, or a CEO and their employees, or an entrepreneur and prospective investors. The important thing here is “connection” and further, what type of “shape” that connection takes.
This brings us to the second part of our name, “shape,” which can refer to the specific form of these connections. Some relevant examples are: a website or a mobile web application, an email newsletter, banner ad, or social media widget. The word “shape” also refers to the act of shaping these connections. This is really important, because we consider website design to be the logical descendant of traditional art and design. We consider ourselves to be artisans of this latest art medium, the web.
